Difference between Genital Herpes and HPV (Human PapillomaVirus)
What is the difference between genital herpes and HPV?
This question I asked recently and investigate and today I want to share it.
There is great confusion between genital herpes and HPV. This is due to the similarity of the symptoms that are manifested.
But the final presentation is different in each case, they can even be confused with many other sexually transmitted diseases, but the fact is that they are two different diseases.
Blisters in the genital area are the symptoms of herpes, while HPV often causes genital warts.
HPV or human papillomavirus affects, the skin and mucous
membranes of the infected person. There are many types of HPV, but there are only a few types that cause genital warts.
The danger here is that persistent infection with some types of HPV can cause cervical cancer. The cancers that cause HPV are usually of the type that do not cause genital warts as a symptom.
When warts appear on your genitals or any other part of the body, you actually have HPV, but it is low risk, indicating that you are hardly at risk for cancer.
Like herpes, HPV is also transmitted through sexual contact with an infected person.
Here is also important to know, that most men do not show HPV warts because they are only carriers of the virus and without even knowing they are infecting their sexual partners.
How do i know if i have herpes or hpv?
HPV and herpes are often spread by people who do not know they have it.
HPV has been found to be more prevalent in women, although men may also experience symptoms, but in most cases they are only carriers of the virus.
Another difference between genital herpes and HPV is that blisters caused by herpes disappear after the virus has run its course and after treatment.
Genital warts do not go away. They have to be surgically removed or with cryotherapy or cauterization treatments.
Both herpes and HPV are curable viruses, but unlike herpes, in HPV there are certain vaccines that can protect a person against infection for certain types of HPV.
A heartfelt advice is to take quick action on these viruses, because you can turn it into something more dangerous in the future.
